Projects 2007 and 2008
In 2008, education became the second stabile pillar, right after the art, of the corporate philanthropy. Tatra banka invested several million Crowns to good educational projects for universities, where it is extremely important to support research and improvement of the teaching process. Tatra banka supported mainly the educational events in economy, finance, particularly scientific conferences, publishing text books, development of library systems (University of Economics in Bratislava), but also interesting and innovation projects in other universities (Comenius University in Bratislava, University of Arts in Bratislava, Alexander Dubček University, Catholic University in Ružomberok, Trnava University etc.).
Tatra banka supports development of education also by supporting certain renowned conferences of top professionals. This year, it has become an exclusive partner of TREND conferences and a general partner of the HN CLUB which hosted Steve Ballmer, the CEO of Microsoft. In the area of improving the quality of education, the bank supported the non-governmental non-profit organization INEKO and monitoring of the substance of the educational reform, as well as the project of the non-profit apolitical association INESS aimed at improving the information at schools and on function of the public finance system.
