Telebanking

Description of the Gemini 5 Electronic Banking System (Telebanking)

The main functions of the Gemini system include:

  • Creating domestic payment orders;
  • Creating applications for direct debits and sending them to the bank;
  • Creating of foreign payment orders and sending them to the bank;
  • Orders with forward due dates;
  • Mediation of public banking information on:
  • - currencies exchange rates,
    - list of banks in the national clearing, constant symbols, payment titles, etc.;
  • Mediation of private banking information on:
  • - account statements,
    - uncaccounted items on accounts,
    - current balances on accounts;
  • Exchange of data with the corporate information (accounting) system - importing payment orders and exporting account statements;
  • Authorisation of payment orders and applications prior to their dispatch to the bank;;
  • Exchange of electronic mail messages between the bank and the client;
  • Exchange of free format files between the bank and the client.

The system may be installed in a single-user or network version.

Communication with the bank is carried out via the TCP/IP (internet connection) or the public telephone network. The GEMINI/CS (GCS) client application allows you to communicate 24 hours a day with the bank with unlimited number of connections. If you use a telephone line, communication may be carried out via an analog or ISDN modem, if you use the TCP/IP, any connection to the internet network is feasible.

Placement of Payment Orders

All types of payment orders may be imported also directly from the accounting programs of various firms (please consult the option of connection directly with the supplier of your accounting program) and upon request, Tatra banka, a.s. provides a account statement in an accountable structuralised format which may be directly imported to your records. Such account statement contains all items (accounts, symbols, text information, etc.) required for direct accounting.

In typing or importing data from the accounting records to the GCS, formal control is performed of validity of each payment order. The account number, the bank, and the constant symbol are controlled. Giving any additional voluntary items is in the client´s discretion.

Placement of Payment Orders With Forward Due Date

The files of payment orders may be placed with forward due dates. It means that you may send payment orders already today and elect the date when the given file of orders should be realised in the future. In this way, you may send orders with the D + 30 value. The forward due date always applies for the whole file.

Successful processing of payment orders

Upon sending the file to the bank, you will receive the information on receipt thereof, and in the next following connection via the status, also on processing or non-processing thereof, with the reason of non-realisation of the transaction.

Payment order placed manually

The GCS contains a lot of functions which will simplify your manual placement of payment orders.

The database with names of firms, account numbers, and bank codes will allow to simply and quickly complete a payment order form without unnecessary errors.

Computer file may always be printed

Computer file may always be printed.

Account statement without visiting the bank

An electronic statement from your account is usually available approximately from 04:00 am. All statements are stored in the communication server in the bank until your next following connection with the bank.

Current balance on your accounts

In each connection with the bank, you will receive information on the current balance on your accounts at the time of connection.

Non-cleared daily turnovers

After each realisation of domestic orders, you will receive, in the next following connection with the bank, detail information about the given turnovers as well as about all other ones which have been realised on your accounts.

Tatra banka foreign exchange rate list

The Tatra banka foreign exchange rate list applicable on the given day will be automatically recorded for you in your first connection with the bank from 01:00 am.

Electronic mail

The post box allows you and the bank to simply communicate via the telebanking. You may send a message to the bank with your requirements (e.g. if you need to obtain any older account statement, because you have deleted it by mistake, etc.) and in this way, the bank may inform you about new services or give you any other important information.

Simple communication

When you connect the bank, all files prepared for the bank are automatically transferred to the bank and the files prepared for you in the bank are transferred to your PC. If the connection is suddenly broken due to any unforeseen circumstances, the system will inform you that the connection is broken. In renewing the connection, the communication continues from the last performed action.
An interesting function is the possibility to connect automatically. Whether only for once, in case of pre-setting the date and time of the required connection with the bank server, or setting automatic connection where you may elect from several alternatives, namely:

    - connect periodically every XX minutes
    - connect immediately in the event there exists any document to be sent
    - only between HH:MM and HH:MM
    - only on required days (e.g.: Mon-Fri, Except for weekends)

Availability

The bank server is available 24 hours a day (except for the cases of scheduled maintenance, which shall be notified by the bank in advance). Obtaining some on-line information (e.g. balances on accounts) which depend on availability of the main banking system is limited during the night bank closure.

Security - top standard protection

Safeguard - perfect safeguard is one of the main conditions of each system for direct banking, because in both directions between the bank and the client are transferred information which must be safeguarded against misuse. The security of the system is proved by the following methods:

  • Verification of user´s identity (authentication) at access to the application - first of all, each user logging in the GCS system must have a clear identification. Therefore, each user receives from the system operator an allocated user´s name (unique in the client´s organisation) and a one-time password for logging-in, or the user identifies himself by his digital signature.

  • Control of user´s authorisation to perform certain operations (authorisation) each user´s options are bound to certain profile of rights, and thus the application allows him to perform only those operations (and on those accounts) which are permitted in his profile of rights.

  • Verification of origin (genuiness) and integrity of documents - no less important is the option to confirm and verify the genuiness of documents and safe transfer thereof in both directions. In order to ensure these security requirements, the public cryptography methods were applied according to the PKCS #12 standard. This is based first of all on the digital signature generated on the basis of the RSA algorithm, the public and secret key method. Explanation of the principle of such cryptographic methods would go beyond the purpose of this information material.If you are interested in detail information, we recommend you to visit e.g. the internet pages www.dtca.sk. The digital signature is applied in the same way as the handwritten signature on paper documents. The holder attaches his signature on the document and thus declares his authorship and consent with the contents thereof.

  • Cryptographic keys - serve for signing documents or for verification of identification during logging in the application. In establishing the user, Tatra banka, a.s. generates one pair of keys. One key is secret and is in the user´s possession. The other - public one is sent to the bank for registration. The bank, acting in the role of the so-called certification authority, shall issue for this key a certificate, i.e. a confirmation that the key is joined with the declared user (cf. herein below). Also transport keys are generated for encoding and decoding documents, which are obviously common for the whole application.
  • Certificate - by the certificate, the bank confirms registration of the public key for certain user.

  • Signing rules - same as for paper documents, the rules of signing electronic documents may be agreed with the bank. It is possible to set a signature or a combination of signatures required for confirmation of the given operation on a specific account. A limit amount may also be determined for an individual signature. In transfer to the bank, the signature must correspond to the given rules, which is controlled by the application itself. Any changes or violation is controlled also by the bank server.

The security is managed by the system operator within his competences.
In the event any of the safeguarding elements is incorrect, there will be no connection between the client and the bank.
