Foreign payments system
 

Incoming payment (credit note) - processing non-cash transfers in a foreign currency or in EUR that are sent from foreign countries to Tatra banka or to other bank via Tatra banka.

Outgoing payment (debit note) - processing non-cash cross-border transfers in a foreign currency or in EUR that are sent to foreign countries, or transfers in a foreign currency sent to another Slovak bank and also transfers in a foreign currency within Tatra banka.

Outgoing payment

Outgoing payment is a foreign transfer order, where the payer's bank orders the payee's bank to credit to the person which is written on the payment order as the payee the given amount at the set maturity date (value date of the payment). In the outgoing payment the payer's bank simultaneously informs the payee's bank through which route the given amount is going to be transferred.

Value Date Concerning Outgoing Payments

Value date - the amount is credited to the account of the corresponding bank with a spot-value date on the day D+2. The payment is credited to the final payee in between 2 to 6 business days, which depends on the network of the involved banks, or in case of public holidays in selected foreign countries it is necessary to count in the possible delay concerning the crediting of the payment to the final payee.

Incoming Payment

Incoming payment is a foreign transfer order, where the payer's bank orders the payee's bank to credit to the person which is written on the payment order as the payee the given amount in a foreign currency or in EUR at the set maturity date (value date of the payment). In the incoming payment the payer's bank simultaneously informs the payee's bank through which route the given amount is going to be remitted.

Value date of incoming payments

Incoming payments are remitted with a value date that informs us when the means are credited to our nostro account i. e. when we can credit them to the payee's account.

When processing a payment in favor of the payee's account the value date is a day when the means are at the payee's disposal without any debit interests.

In case of incomplete or inaccurate data the incoming payment enters a complaint procedure and the day when the payment will be credited and available can get postponed.

Instructions for Sending Payments from Abroad

In order to ensure the foreign payments system Tatra banka belongs to the Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication - SWIFT, into which several thousand banks belong to and which ensures a fast and effective payments system with banks around the world. Every bank that is a mebter of SWIFT has also its SWIFT-Code. The SWIFT-Code of Tatra banka (BIC) is: TATR SK BX.

On behalf of smooth and unproblematic transfers of your financial means from the payer's account to your account it is necessary to provide all necessary information about your bank connection.

We propose that you provide information about your bank connection in your contracts, invoices or other documents in the following form:

Please add to the specification of your bank connection the following:

1. (Number of the current account / IBAN) - account number, to which the incoming payment shall be credited and in case of payments remitted to your account from the countries of the European Union please provide your account number in the IBAN format IBAN-Code - International Bank Account Number

2. (the appertaining account name) - the exact name of your account that correspond with the given account number / IBAN

3. (the bank, in which the nostro account of Tatra banka is maintained) - name and SWIFT-Code of the correspondent bank where the nostro account of Tatra banka is maintained in the desired currency. From the list of correspondent banks chose the one that has its seat in the country where the sent currency is the circulating currency, e. g. if you are paying in USD you will provide the Standard Chartered bank, New York, SCBLUS33 (the data is not compulsory).

4. (verbal description of the purpose of the payment / payment title) - pursuant to Provision of NBS 19/2008 it is necessary to define every incoming payment from abroad with the correct payment title in order that the National Bank of Slovakia can correctly compile the balance of payments of the Slovak Republic That is why it is advisable to ask the foreign payer to include a verbal description regarding the character of the payment within the payment details (e. g. payment for goods, rent, accommodation etc.)

Providing a purpose of a payment does not apply to specially regulated cross-border transfers up to 50,000 EUR included, made in EUR into the Slovak Republic from a member state of the European Union or from another state of the European Economic Area and vice versa.

Specially regulated cross-border transfers higher than 50,000.00 EUR, are to be marked by the correct payment title.
