Tatra banka offers Tap to Pay on iPhone for merchants to accept contactless payments

Tatra banka enables sole proprietors and businesses to accept contactless payments simply and securely through the Tatra banka POS app using Tap to Pay on iPhone. Tap to Pay on iPhone allows merchants to accept all forms of contactless payments, including contactless credit and debit cards, Apple Pay, and other digital wallets, using only an iPhone and the Tatra banka POS app. No additional hardware or payment terminal is required.

iPhone as a payment terminal

Using Tap to Pay on iPhone is simple and secure. During payment, the merchant asks the customer to hold their contactless payment method near the merchant’s iPhone. The payment is then processed securely via NFC technology.

Apple’s Tap to Pay on iPhone technology uses the iPhone’s built-in security and privacy features to help protect merchant and customer data. Apple does not store card numbers or transaction information on the device or on its servers, allowing both merchants and customers to be confident that their data remains secure.*

Cashless payments are the standard

The introduction of Tap to Pay on iPhone responds to growing demand for simple and flexible cashless payment acceptance. More than 6 million transactions are processed through Tatra banka POS terminals every week, while around 60,000 transactions are carried out via the Tatra banka POS app. This number is expected to continue growing.

Through Tap to Pay on iPhone and the Tatra banka POS app, merchants can accept all forms of contactless payments, including contactless Visa and Mastercard debit and credit cards, Apple Pay, and other digital wallets. Funds received through the Tatra banka POS app are credited to the merchant’s account on the next business day.

Tap to Pay on iPhone enables Tatra banka clients to use a contactless payment acceptance solution that is easy to set up and use. Merchants can start accepting contactless payments within minutes of downloading the Tatra banka POS app on an iPhone XS or later running the latest version of iOS.

Conditions for using a mobile POS

To use the Tatra banka POS app, a business owner must have a business account with Tatra banka. The company must also be registered in the Commercial Register or Trade Register of the Slovak Republic. Another requirement is to conclude a payment card acceptance agreement with Tatra banka and download the Tatra banka POS app from the App Store.

* Encrypted card numbers are temporarily stored on iPhone only for transactions made in Store and Forward mode.
