Verification of Payee service
Before authorizing the payment, you can easily verify whether the name of the beneficiary corresponds to the entered account number (IBAN). The verification takes place instantly in the beneficiary's bank system, so the payment processing will not be delayed.
The new service is available free of charge for all clients – individuals, entrepreneurs, and legal entities – when making standard SEPA and SEPA instant payments.
How does the service work?

Entering payment details: When entering the payment, in addition to the IBAN, you will also provide the name of the beneficiary.

Verification at the beneficiary's bank: The system compares the entered details with the information stored in the beneficiary's bank database.

Result: Before confirming the payment, you will receive information about the verification result in the Tatra banka mobile application, Internet bankingTB and Business bankingTB: match, close match, no match, unsupported service, verification not possible, or service unavailable.

Frequently asked questions
According to the regulation of the European Parliament and the Council of Europe 2024/886 dated March 13, 2024, all banks in the Eurozone are required to provide the Verification of Payee service for SEPA standard payments and SEPA instant payments free of charge by October 9, 2025, at the latest. Banks outside the Eurozone must implement the Verification of Payee service no later than July 9, 2027.
The service is also available when creating or changing a standing order. Existing standing orders will be processed as they were submitted; there is no need to add the beneficiary name to them.
- In the Tatra banka application, you can find the beneficiary's name in the Account Details. If you want to share the information, click the "Share IBAN" button and select "Beneficiary name".
- In Internet bankingTB, the beneficiary's name is available in the Account Details, section "Account business card".
- In the Business bankingTB application, you can find the beneficiary's name on the Account Details screen, in the "Account owner" field.
The functionalities will be available from October 5, 2025.
For transfers to the account for Extra installment under the Accelerated installment service for the Consumer LoanTB, MortgageTB, or Home equity loanTB, the beneficiary name must be "Tatra banka, a.s."
For transfers intended for the repayment of Consumer LoanTB, MortgageTB, or Home equity loanTB to an account whose number begins with the digits 625, the beneficiary name must include the debtor's first and last name.
We recommend contacting the beneficiary directly and asking them to provide you with the correct recipient name. You can then use the Verification of Payee service when entering payments.
The beneficiary's name is typically included on invoices, QR codes, or in official payment documents.
Using diacritics and indicating uppercase and lowercase letters does not affect the outcome of the verification check.
In the case of payments to the account of an individual, please provide the first and last name; in the case of payments to the account of a legal entity, please provide the name of the company including its legal form.
